The QGIS plugin is the easiest way to publish: it works from the project you have open, collects every layer's data wherever it lives, and uploads it for you.
Install it
- On MinexMaps, open QGIS plugin in the app menu and download the plugin zip.
- In QGIS: Plugins > Manage and Install Plugins > Install from ZIP, choose the file, install.
- On the same MinexMaps page, create a publish key. It is shown once: copy it into the plugin. Keys last a year and can be revoked at any time.
Publish
- Open your project in QGIS and click Publish to MinexMaps on the toolbar.
- Pick your team and choose New map (and its name) or Update an existing map.
- Click Check and estimate size. The plugin lists what will publish, what will be left out (and why) and anything missing.
- Choose a size mode: Copy everything, Clip big layers to the map area (recommended for province-wide data), or Only layers switched on.
- Publish. Big packages upload in parts and resume if your connection drops. When it is done you get the map link and the report.
What it does with your data
- Layers outside the project folder, on other drives or in a shared library are copied into the package.
- Database layers are exported to a GeoPackage; passwords never leave your computer.
- Rasters QGIS can read but the web cannot (ECW, ER Mapper, JPEG 2000) are converted to GeoTIFF.
- A
3d_modelsfolder beside the project (Leapfrog OMF, OBJ or DXF models, see Preparing your project) goes with the map as it is, for the Underground view; the check tells you how many files. - Your own project file is never changed: the plugin works on a copy and deletes it after a successful upload.
Updating a map
The plugin remembers which map each project went to. Choose Update an existing map and publish again: the map keeps its address, links and views.
